Role play – Drama Rational

Role-playing is a structured educational activity with specific educational objectives. It is based on three main aspects: taking roles, creating roles, and negotiating positions. Role players must choose between a predetermined, socially expected role and their dynamic understanding of the character. Players must do the following during the role-playing process: adopt a particular character, either as their own or as someone else, or join a scene or scenario that has been imitated based on the individual's activity or curriculum content, or both, as appropriate Ruff, H. A., and Lawson, K. R. (1990).

The goal of role-playing and drama is for children to acquire a set of competencies that will allow them to develop a positive social mind and executive functioning through interaction with parents, teachers, and peers in the role of child development and improvement of the social sphere, emotional, intellectual, communication and self-regulation skills. On the other hand, role-playing improves brain patterns, performance, and executive function, allowing us to focus on our goals.

 

Drama/Role Playing will help the child develop many cognitive, motor, emotional, social, and language skills. Children will perceive and be creative when they imagine the events of the story and will be able to imitate the movements of the characters easily. However, drama and role-playing have a significant impact on the language they will learn, as well as the value of cooperation and teamwork in a social setting, and dramatic role-playing allows children to express their feelings in many ways, both during the presentation of the play and even after the completion of the performance of the play.

 

Finally, I chose the animal theme for role-playing and drama because it was easy to get decorations, create roles, and assign them to students. On the other hand, children already know the names and traditions of animals, and the school curriculum emphasizes teaching children about animals, especially in the subject (Science).
